Surrealist Photographer John Laughlin


I’ve always been interested in surrealism, blurring the lines between reality and what we percieve our realities to be. In the world of photography, a medium that started with the desire to record life as we see it, the composition of images could portray realities in different contexts, redefining reality as we know it. Pretty cool. Photo maipulation and photo montage were quite common among the avant-garde photographers, such as Man Ray.

Probably lesser known photographer, and one such fore father of surrealist photography in America, who always struck a note with me, was Clarence John Laughlin. His juxtaposition of imagery is simply dreamy to me..
