The Sun is Flaring!

Palm Flare – Sonja Quintero – Squint Photography

The days are hot and the sun is glaring. At least in Texas it is! Instead of hiding from it, I’m trying to get out and make the most of it. A lot of photographers might shy away from the harsh sun or add a lens hood to their lenses to avoid the “problem” of getting direct sun into the glass of their lens, creating a “flare” on the lens.

But, what good is life without a little flare? I love the unpredictable, happy surprises when you let the sun have it’s say in your image. Take a look at some of my fave images I’ve captured with intentional sun flare. Oh, and when you try this yourself, just make sure not to stare directly in the sun too long!
