Needing a Creative Boost

I feel like I’ve been in a creative slump the past few days. I haven’t gotten out to shoot and I feel a bit uninspired right now. Not sure if it’s the general busyness of life that’s gotten a hold of me, or I’m just in need of a boost. I do plan on going out to shoot tomorrow, but currently, it feels more like an obligation, than fun. I’m hoping once I get out, I will feel energizing simply by having my camera in hand.

Sometimes, I believe the ebb and flow of creativity should not be pushed or manipulated, just let it take its course. But other times, I know, that inspiration can find me, if I just take the time to really look for it.

Lately, to bring myself into a more creative mind set, I’ve simply tried deep breathing, slowing down and just trying to be still. I think there’s a lot to be said to stopping to breathe, to take in the moment and just be more aware. Taking walks also tends to stir the imagination. Sometimes, I will just browse through design magazines or even pet my cat. All of these, in their own way, can build up creative energy.

So, what do you do when you need a creative boost? What energizes you to create, build, or design? I’d love to hear about what you do the bring the spark of creation back. Let’s hear all about it in the comments below!
