Sun Salutation

It’s Summertime, folks! Ok, I’ll admit most of my Summer is spent indoors, because I live in Texas. No need to say more about that. However, there are things I like about Summer. I do enjoy the school zones being on hiatus, less traffic and the fact that the next season is Fall, my fave.

So, to celebrate that we’re getting closer to the Fall season, check out my latest Squint newsletter for some Summer Savings just for my followers! 20% off prints from my Etsy shop, using code: SUMM2017. Also enjoy a Free Summer Download here:

I hope your Summer is fab and fun. But not so hot that your plane can’t take off!

Have a good one!

Let’s talk about inspiration. Specifically, what inspires us to create? Today I wanted to continue with the journey to find and define style from my previous POST about Julia Kelleher’s Creative Live course on style.

I hope after reading the post you took some time to think about the things that inspire you. Things not only in art, but in the world around you. I hope you see patterns in what really grabs you and gets the artistic juices flowing. I hope you see a reflection of some of your own creations.

For me, in going through my inspiration folder, I definitely began to see a rhythm, a cohesiveness of vibrancy, rich tones and strong emotions. Here is a small example of the things that inspire me that are reflected in my photography…

Vibrant colors are my passion and I am drawn to them like a magnet.

In this phase of the Style Cycle, Experimentation, now is the time to explore the individual elements of what inspires you. Are there techniques you’d like to learn or hone? Now is the time to take a class. Learn the techniques you’d like to master. Play! This is the time to do it.

Next post we’ll talk about moving into the 2nd phase of defining your style – Discovery, In this phase Julie talks about a 4 Step Find It Formula of searching, choosing, analyzing and creating. I hope you’ll join me!
